Improve and Protect Decentralized Clinical Trials

Decentralized and hybrid clinical trials are transforming how research is conducted—bringing study activities directly to participants and improving both recruitment and patient experience. However, these models also introduce new risks, particularly reduced site oversight and increased potential for duplicate subjects or professional patients who may enroll in multiple studies simultaneously.

These undetected enrollments can compromise data integrity, introduce safety risks when investigational products overlap, and even cause a trial to fail.

Verified Clinical Trials (VCT) safeguards decentralized research by verifying in real time that participants are not simultaneously screening or enrolled in other clinical trials. Beyond duplicate detection, VCT identifies 17 additional preventable protocol violations derived from inclusion and exclusion criteria—helping sites and sponsors ensure compliant, high-quality enrollment.

VCT’s protections can be applied fully remotely, enabling verification without in-person visits through secure digital tools. Facial recognition technology is currently in development to further strengthen remote subject identity verification.

By integrating VCT early—at the time of screening—sponsors, CROs, and sites can prevent ineligible or duplicate participants before any study activity occurs, reducing cost, improving quality, and protecting data validity throughout the duration of the trial.
